Our site is in the foreground fronting First Street. The field to the lower right is part of our campus, while the track at upper left is part of the Glen Edwards Middle School (GEMS) Campus, as are the buildings to the upper right. Sixth through eighth grade students in the GEMS Leadership Program assist our K-5 teachers and students while learning tutoring and lesson planning skills.
First Street Elementary School hosts a self-contained 2/3 combination class for Gifted and Talented Education and High Achievers, another for 4th grade and one for 5th grade students, together comprising the Elementary Academy. Fifth grade students graduating from the Elementary Academy Program typically enroll in the Honors Academy on the Glen Edwards campus.
First Street School serves a highly diverse population. While a significant portion of the students are English Language Learners, equally significant is the annual growth and progress made by both our English speaking and bilingual students. A highly qualified and fully credentialed staff brings this school an exciting learning atmosphere, with opportunities for students to participate in music and art appreciation. Students may attend Homework Club, or participate in Band or Choir after school.
